You will require a referral from a General Practitioner (GP), Medical Specialist or Hospital Doctor for your first consultation. A referral from a GP will be valid for 12 months from the date of your first consultation with Dr Yu, while a referral from a Medical Specialist or Hospital Doctor will be valid for 3 months from first consultation. Once you have a referral, contact us to book an appointment to see Dr Yu at our Orthopaedics 360 clinic in Norwood, Adelaide Medical Solutions in Woodville, or Southern Specialist Centre in Morphett Vale.

A referral letter contains the details of your problem which requires an Orthopaedic consultant opinion. It also contains any relevant information such as your past medical history, allergies and medications.

A referral from your GP, medical specialist or hospital doctor is required for your account to receive a Medicare rebate. Without a valid referral your account is unable to access Medicare, meaning the full consultation fee will apply.

Your GP may have arranged a scan for you such as an xray, ultrasound, CT or MRI. If this is the case, please bring the scans in with you. The Radiology clinic will usually give these to you in the form of a hard copy, a CD, or a USB stick. The Radiology clinic may also provide information for how Dr Yu and his team are able to access the images digitally.

  • Referral letter from your GP or specialist
  • Any radiology / imaging related to your problem (ie. Xrays, CT scans, Ultrasound scans, MRI scans, Bone scans)
  • Medication list
  • Any relevant medical records or correspondence related to your problem

  • WorkCover or Third Party claim details (if you have an applicable and approved claim)

In order for Dr Yu to perform a precise clinical examination of the upper limb please wear outer garments that can be easily removed, as well as an undergarment to maintain modesty.

The financial cost of private medical care may be confusing but Dr Yu’s team will help you navigate the administrative side of receiving prompt and comprehensive consultant management.

Consultation fees for initial consultations and follow up appointments will vary. Medicare and private health fund rebates will cover a portion of the fee. If you have an approved Workcover or CTP claim, an account will be sent to directly to the insurer.

Dr Yu provides reduced consultation rates for patients holding concession cards and pensioners.

Dr Yu is able to see and manage you as a private patient if you are covered by Workcover (ReturnToWorkSA) or Compulsory Third Party insurance.

Please note that prior to your initial consultation we will be required to obtain approval from your insurer.

If you wish to cancel your appointment, please ensure you call the rooms well in advance to inform our staff of your cancellation.

My goals as a surgeon are to relieve your pain, restore your function, and return you back to doing what you love.
